History of the Calico Rock Library

The Calico Rock Library, under the authority of the Izard County Library Board, has been a member of the White River Regional Library since March 1959, and first opened on May 9, 1959 in the upstairs portion of the State Bank Building on Main Street.  In 1962, the Library was moved to a new building on Walnut Street.  The move to our current location occurred in 1975.  Remodeling in 1997 increased our space from about 1,000 to 4,000 square feet.

The Communtiy Effect

Gifts of books and memorials are greatly appreciated, with the donor understanding the library is not limited as to its use.  Funding for this library comes from the one-mill tax, county wide, plus assistance from the City of Calico Rock.
